PROJECT BACKGROUND
Addressing the Market
THE DESIGN
With the evolving workplace environment, we recognized a significant gap in flexible solutions within the market. While traditional cubicle setups have their merits, they often feel rigid and isolating, and they struggle to adapt to space-limited environments. As the shift toward hybrid workflows continues, the demand for designs tailored to this new way of working has only grown. The Atmus™ Desk addresses these challenges by offering a mobile workstation that can be easily stowed away at the press of a button, setting a new benchmark for flexibility in the modern office.

Responsibilities
Product Design, User Testing, UX Research, Procurement, Project Management, Rendering
At Clarus, we designed the Atmus™ Mobile Desk to meet the growing demand for adaptive workplace solutions, especially in spaces where room is limited. This mobile glass-board flips up into a dual-sided workstation at the press of a button, you can jot down notes on the go and pop up the desks to support collaborative sessions and focused tasks. Atmus™ enables users to work freely, wherever and whenever they choose.
As the Product Designer, I guided Atmus™ from concept to market launch, combining extensive market research, prototyping, and usability testing to ensure a user-centered design. Collaborating closely with engineering, I ensured the product met both design and safety standards. Partnering with vendors and production teams, I helped streamline QA processes, manage cost projections, and establish lead times. Beyond design, I contributed to the marketing efforts by creating renders and animations for the website, product guide, and launch materials.
Configuration Logic
During the design process, we identified a need to accommodate both sitting and standing desk heights while adhering to ergonomic standards. To address this, we decided to offer flexible desk height configurations, ensuring users can select the setup that works best for them.

Customization
At Clarus, customization is a key part of the brand identity. With this in mind, I curated a broad selection of color finishes that balance current color-way trends with timeless, classic options. Additionally, the glass itself offers extensive customization, including a variety of color-ways, as well as options for custom prints and graphics, ensuring a personalized experience for every user.
Features and Details
When I design I am all about the details, my goal was to ensure every element was both functional and timeless.
At the top of the Mobile, a softly rounded corner motif sets the tone and is carried throughout the design for visual harmony. Below, the pill-shaped integrated handle provides a comfortable grip, while the adjacent button actuates one side of the flip-up desk system. At the base, the curved feet create a cohesive transition from the board to the ground, maintaining the rounded design language while introducing a subtle graphic element.
Finally, the designer casters feature hubless locking technology, allowing each caster to lock securely with a gentle press of the foot. A clear indication point ensures ease of use. These thoughtful details combine to make the Mobile both practical and refined.
Prototyping and Development
During the development of Atmus™, I gained valuable insights through collaboration with the Engineering team and our product vendors. As a larger-scale piece of furniture, the project presented unique challenges, particularly with the integration of glass and steel. Balancing sustainability with the unforgiving nature of these materials required creative problem-solving and meticulous attention to detail throughout the process.
Takeaways
During the conception of Atmus™, I acted as the primary point of contact for gathering feedback and addressing customer pain points with the design. By participating in various design trade shows, we had the opportunity to engage directly with end users, gaining valuable insights that were ultimately incorporated into the final design revision.
Moving forward, I aim to further integrate the customer voice into the process, using their insights to refine and draw inspiration for designs in the future.
